In what has become an annual tradition, the Giants have made a late trade to beat the deadline and solidify their position. The price was heavy, as the Giants moved a pair of former 1st round picks from their minor leagues, but brought in mighty slugger Conor Jackson.
Jackson, a .298 career hitter, has never played outside of Washington. Jackson is a career .313 hitter vs lefties, and a .293 career batter vs righties. He joins a crowded 1st base scenario in San Fran, alongside incumbant Tony Perez. The AP caught up with Jackson for a few comments. . . . .
AP: How does it feel to be headed to the opposite end of the country?
C-Jack: I feel great. I'm excited to get my first ever postseason opportunity.
AP: Where do you fit in, with the dynamic San Fran starting lineup?
C-Jack: I didn't come here to sit the bench. I'll be starting. Perez, Lee, all of these guys will bring out the best in me.
AP: Your a free agent, what does your future hold?
C-Jack: I'll be staying in San Fran. They have over 200 million, and have assured me that they will bring me back.
AP: What are your expectations?
C-Jack: I expect to get my first ring, of many, this season.
Thanks!
